The successes that your child will experience at Parkside Primary School will very much depend on the partnerships that develop between home and school. Parkside Primary School is proud of its heritage. The suburb of Parkside was laid out by Colonel Light in 1839. In 1841 the Great Eastern Road (now Glen Osmond Road) was added to the plan, running diagonally past the northeast corner of the school grounds into the city of Adelaide. Glen Osmond Road still provides major access to the Central Business District making our school a convenient stop for parents on their way to and from work in the city and the local precinct.
A new school was opened on 1st April 1885 as the area known as Parkside changed from a semi-rural to a semi-urban suburb. The single building consisted of eight classrooms and had an opening enrolment of 488 students. A house for the Headmaster and more classrooms were constructed and new land was acquired to cater for increasing numbers. These magnificent old buildings and grounds are still central to the operation of our school.

We foster, in our students, a love of learning, interest in experimentation and innovation, responsibility for one’s own behaviour, cooperation and self-discipline as well as a strong focus on the tools needed for participation in life.
