To promote positive wellbeing, we at Parkside Primary aim for our students to feel safe, included and valued. We ensure our students have access to support, experiences, teaching, and resources to build their resilience and social and emotional skills to positively engage in learning.
Wellbeing programs – whole school approach
Zones of Regulation
The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum geared toward helping students gain skills in consciously regulating their feelings, which in turn leads to increased control and problem-solving abilities.
Why Teach Self-Regulation?
Regulation is something everyone continually works on whether we are aware of it or not. We all encounter trying circumstances that can test our limits. If we can recognise when we are becoming less regulated, we are able to do something about it to manage our feelings and get ourselves to a healthy place. This comes more naturally for some, but for others it is a skill that needs more attention and practice. This is the goal of The Zones of Regulation.
Friendology
We understand that managing, establishing, building, initiating, maintaining friendships is hard work. To help support student’s navigate and manage friendships we have invested in a whole school friendship strategy ‘friendology’. Teachers and students will be using the common language of friendship across the school. Your child may talk about being a Friendship Ninja. A Friendship Ninja is someone who surrounds themselves with friends in the healthy zone of the Friend-o-Meter. A Friendship Ninja is kind and friendly to everyone.
Classroom teachers will use this resource to support students learning in managing friendships to promote positive wellbeing for all.

Reset Space
The Reset Space is a space that students can use to self-regulate, process their emotions which helps them to reset so they can successfully engage with their learning. Sometimes students need to move their bodies, touch, listen, talk, discuss or have some quiet time. They may be feeling dysregulated, anxious, worried, going through some challenges, having a wobble, need some space or need someone to support them to self-regulate.
