The Government recognises the opportunities the Internet offers for education, social interaction, innovation and convenience, but also knows that along with all the opportunities, there are risks that can make the online world unpleasant and even dangerous. It is important that young Australians can enjoy its benefits and go online with safety and confidence.
The Cybersafety Help Button was launched by Stephen Conroy in December 2010 and provides Internet users, particularly children and young people, with easy and immediate online access to cybersafety information and assistance. It provides counselling, reporting and educational resources designed to assist children in dealing with online risks including cyberbullying, unwanted contact, scams and fraud, and offensive or inappropriate material.
It is a free application that is available from the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy website at www.dbcde.gov.au/helpbutton and can be easily downloaded onto personal computers.
Do you want to see Parkside Primary excel at reducing its environmental impact? Are you keen to see our children learning about and connecting with nature? The Parkside sustainability committee needs you to help plan our way to becoming a sustainable school. There is lots already happening with the food garden, youth action and waste programs but there is a need to develop a vision for where the Parkside community wants to go.
Be a part of the solution and help empower our students to take action, build skills and the resilience to tackle the future. Send an email to Hugh Kneebone at alperskneebone@bigpond.com to register your interest for more information or to attend the next meeting which will be in week 7.
We are looking to make contact with as many old scholars as possible. Send us a message at admin@parksideps.sa.edu.au if you are interested.
Have you considered enrolling your children at Parkside Primary School? How easy would it be to drop your children off on your way to work, pick them up on the way home and still be close to them during the school day! More details are available in the Flyer PDF file (328 KB).
